The Online Critical Pseudepigrapha is entering an exciting new phase in its growth and development. These changes revolve around the new site currently under heavy development at http://ocp.tyndale.ca. Yet the new site is more than just a face lift. The changes in the reader interface will allow faster, more dynamic comparison of texts. We will also be implementing searching and moving toward tagging all of our texts for lexical and grammatical information. All of this is being programmed in jquery allowing for full cross-browser support. Safari users in particular will finally be able to view OCP documents without the difficulties and inconsistent display of fonts that have been problems with the old site.
Behind the scenes, we are finally rolling out an online, interactive text-editor freeing scholars who work on documents for the OCP from the need to deal with unsightly xml code or awkward text files. On the technical side, we are opening up the development of the OCP reader interface and text editor for collaborative, open-source development. The full of our scripts will soon be available for download or online reading. If you can work in jquery and would like to submit a suggested patch, you will soon be able to do so via this site.
We are also encouraging others to re-use these interfaces elsewhere. The OCP site has been re-built on the open-source Drupal platform, and both the OCP reader and the new text-editor are being built as easily-installable Drupal modules. This will make it very simply for other projects to mount similar online publication projects without having to invest in programming.
Check back often to see how the work is progressing. In the meantime, you can continue to view the OCP documents on the legacy site at http://ocp.acadiau.ca.
